As i do with any new car, im replacing the leads, plugs, cap, and arm. Bought the bits from the stealers as i want everything bm. Anyway thats beside the point. The leads. Took them off from the plugs and i went to disconnect the lead that comes off a lead and goes way down to the depths and plugs in next to what looks like the flywheel. Anyone whos done it will know what i mean as my technical terms are laughable. Anyway it is well on and doesent seem to want to come off. Before i take it off tho i want to make sure ive got the right leads as im not convinced. The bit in question down below seems round, but the one the dealer has supplied below seems square. Any ideas whether or not ive got the right bit? Possible hes given me a bit for a 318i instead of a 6i as mine is, or are they the same?

316i leads and 318i are identical, the lead you mention sounds like the pulse sensor, if you look more closely, you will see that this lead actually goes around the front of the engine, and plugs into a connector on the LH side of the engine, it runs along side another wire, which goes to the sensor you mention, which is for the crankshaft postion sensor, which is round and mounted on the front of the engine, and the other end of the wire plus into the same place as the connector pictured.

Hope that helps!
