As most of you have probably heard by now, petrol is going to hit £1/ltr very soon. We all know that "economy" and "E30" don't go in the same sentence. I'm going to be doing a DIY LPG install on my Touring and in the process I hope to get sufficiently clued-up to be able to advise others how to go about it, if there are any pit-falls to the job, how the car drives on gas and what sort of reduction in fuel costs to expect.

I'm sure none of us likes spending money un-necessarily, but personally I'd rather invest in £700 converting to LPG than take a massive loss on the car selling it and have to drive something totally devoid of charisma and probably front wheel drive. My initial calculations on cost saving indicate that within a year my LPG system should have paid for itself. I'm currently doing about 8500 miles a year, so if you're doing more miles than that you could be on the winning side even quicker.

My system should be here on Wednesday, and I'll post updates as often as I can on the progress of the install.

If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them but for the moment I'm on a very steep learning curve myself - so I'm not yet the fount of all LPG knowledge (but I'll be working on it).

The kit's here now. :woohoo: I'm hoping to make a start on it this weekend, but I'm working nights this week so I doubt I'll get much done Saturday.
The plan is to do as much as possible (bear in mind I work at less than snail pace!) this weekend, possibly a few evenings next week and finish it on the weekend of 16th/17th June (can't do anything w/e 8th & 9th - other commitments).
I've had to send my laptop - it's needed to set the system up - away to be fixed, it's died again. So that may hold me up a bit too.
I've also found an LPGA member locally who can certify it for me.

What type of mixer have you chosen?
It was chosen for me by the Dude who supplied the kit. He's been very thorough and asked lots of questions about the car. It's all been done by e-mail and 'phone as he's 350 miles away. From my first enquiry to him to me placing the order was over two weeks.
To answer your question, the mixer fits inside the AFM - TB boot. When I get 'round to fitting it, the pictures will be in the install thread

If only petrol was 'only' £1.00 a litre, here we are in June 2008 and it's £1.20-ish :crying: Anyone got a cheap LPG kit for a 325i Sport?

Cheers,
Maurice, E. Kent UK
