My car has allways had a really bad flat spot when pulling away from standing still even when warm. I can stall an automatic!!!
Today I noticed the accelerater cable was about 12-15 mm slack but with no more adjustment avaliable.
So I fixed it , and the response is :woohoo: compared to how it used to be.
The gears change a bit earlier, and that "lag " has gone!

There is also another cable linked in to all of this .
Does this go to the auto box and if so guys, What the hell does this do ?

Mart.

What the kick-down does is shift the box down when you go to accelerate hard - ie overtaking.
What's supposed to happen is.....

(say) You're following a slower vehicle,
You see a gap in the traffic coming the other way,
You floor the gas pedal,
'Box shifts down one or maybe two gears, car accelerates harder.
You overtake quicker. :skid:
When you lift off because you're going as fast as you want, 'box upshifts again.

You can get the same effect by using the stick to shift and hold a lower gear (but FFS don't over-rev it!).

If the kick-down doesn't work as it should, the cable may need adjusting - or it's broke! If neither of those apply, the 'box is goosed.
