Hi Guys,

my 89 325i tourer needs both front and rear sections of the exhaust pretty soon. its sounding pretty harsh and antisocial I have been checking out my options and it looks like im stuck to euro car parts for the front section.

its 200ukp for the front and 67 for the back +vat

front section part number, 701110270
rear section part number, 705110411

now.. are there any other options?

given 350ukp + vat what would you put on your tourer?

Hello Ade, and welcome to the Planet mate !!!

That sounds pricey to me , but, pm a guy on here called "Stubeedoo".

He has a VERY nice touring (323) and has a great deal of time for exhausts .

Enjoy Ade .

welcome mate

have you considered having a custom exhaust made (if there is anyone near you who is capable of doing that?)

i had an exhaust made for me from the middle section back with a straight through back box with twin up swept DTM`s and it only cost £150

it is fairly quiet at low revs but can be a bit noisy when you "give it the beans "

but i am well happy with what i got for the money

its not for a touring its on a 325I but i think that shouldn't make too much difference on the price

as said above give stu a pm as he may be able to help you

Hello mate. Sorry for delay in replying, but as Mart said I've been away on holiday.
The front section from ECP is likely to be a genuine BMW one as there don't seem to be any aftermatket exhaust manufacturers doing a copy of the RHD 2-part front section.
I recently had to replace the exhaust on my Touring and both parts appeared to be the originals. From what I can gather on other forums, this isn't unusual - BMW parts seem to be very long-lasting.
Also, on other forums, the concensus seems to be that despite manufacturer claims anything other than the genuine stuff can lose you power.
I've got a genuine front section and a Scorpion rear on my car now. The Scorpion is a little bit loud to be honest, but I wanted it for the look - and the fact it's stainless.
Given your budget, I'd probably go for a genuine front section and a rear from ECP or GSF but bear in mind that you get what you pay for and the rear section won't last as long as the genuine stuff. Depends how long you intend keeping the car, really. If you're planning on keeping it for a few years then you'd be better spending a bit extra and getting the genuine rear section - it ought to last another 15 years at least.
Hope this answers your question.
Stuart.

thanks for your help stuart. Stock bits it is. not sure if i will go for the ecp/gsf back box yet i keep saying "1 more year" on this car then it goes and passes its mot cheaply enough to make it worth while running it another year!
