Salutations.
I expect a lot of you will know me from the E30 Zone, for those that don't I think I'm regarded as the Zone's "village idiot" of sorts. Expect more of the same here. I'm the very same Cloud as mentioned in StuBeeDoo's current sig. I came on here because the E30 community on the Zone is fantastic, I've literally never met such nice, helpful, friendly and accepting people. Some of my ideas will come from a good mechanic friend of mine who can fix just about anything with pretty much nothing, but doesn't know bagger all about what makes a car cool, or quality, or fun, or even any good. The opposite of me, having enough knowledge about cars in general to buy an E30, but I couldn't fix a broken hazard switch if my life depended on it. I'm more of a driver.

So what do I drive? Well, nothing at the moment. I have a backburner project of a track car, which started out life as a 320i SE, got a bit tatty, a bit ragged, a bit abused, and since I've bought it has been almost completely obliterated. Plans for that are a 2.8 M20 with as much of the most advanced tuning technology as is possible to cram onto it. The newest addition to the fleet is a 325i convertible (pictured below) originally a chromie, which has since been facelifted. I'm hoping to get that back on the road soon, but it's reluctant, and every time I sort one fault out, another one comes up, and I'm slowly beginning to lose my patience and enthusiasm with it, so that may end up binned before it ever sees the road again. Actually nearly hit it with a shovel just this week.

My ever changing stance on what's acceptable for E30s gets me into arguments more than anything else. Sometimes I want to weld the diff and drive around sideways, other times I just want to put some polish onto a cotton bud to get at that bit that runs around the windows. I have the tuning bug bad, but I think tuning, and in particular aftermarket styling, will ruin my convertible. I've dreamed of both concourse and rallycross. Part of me wants to go mad with E36 components, and partly I want to keep it simple. But always, I think the E30 rocks.

In the photo above, my car is the sad looking white thing behind someone else's gorgeous car.

I've also just noticed the URL of this website is s14.zetaboards.com - awesome.

Here's one more, a recent photo of the convertible, stored for the winter, where you wouldn't think there'd be too much to go wrong, but not so. This weeks problem is a manifold gasket, I think. I can't properly check, because I'm still suffering last weeks problem, which is that it'll start nicely, once. Then the (brand new) battery is all worn out and barely turns it over. Still, I'll have my revenge in the summer; every minute of sunshine all year is going to be spent with the roof, and the throttle pedal, right down.

Welcome mate!

Love your car, and as Mart says, great attitude to have about E30s.

Certainly not taking anything away from your motor, but that Burgundy cab in the pic is Bloody lovely init??

It's stunning. I think I'd rather have mine though. Even though it's a bitch and I hate it with every fibre of my being, (I love it really) the previous owner tweaked and tuned it just to my liking. For example it's got a standard BMW exhuast manifold, Scorpion mid section, and a powerflow backbox. That may not be the "best" setup, or to everyone's taste, but for me it's just a perfect blend. The owner of the burgundrot cab is "pimpmobil" - not sure if they're on here, but I don't see much of them any more.

It's filthy at the moment. I've been thrashing it on an airstrip, and haven't cleaned it since I bought it.

Although it's broken now, and just sits there collecting dust.

The background was blacked out in Paint, yes.

Ground clearance, about 5 inches. Scorpion midsection connects to Powerflow rear.

Tech-2 interior, to match the Tech-2 exterior, and horrible gold dials. Want black/orange Alpina ones.

Posted Image

KFC/BMW. Also, room to swing a small cat in the garage, which is helpful.

Mart.
I dislike the dials.

The only thing I like about them is that they're from a fourpot, so the rev counter displays 1.5 times normal, so 4000 RPM is displayed as 6000 on the counter, and the rev limiter kicks in when the needle is into the MPG meter. If anyone else drives it, that doesn't know about that, they're not going to rag it as hard, even when they think they are. I'm going to try and swap them for black dials from a fourpot, so it does the same thing. Hopefully it'll help with the emissions testing too. Harhar.

More photos.

The high-tech solution for a broken boot lid strut. Very smoked rear light.

Diff and rust and shit.

Tech-2 spoiler. Not popular on cabs, but I like it. Same story with smoked lights.

The car used to have chrome,
in its early days as the showroom model at Sytner (ooh la la)
but was "facelifted" shortly after.

The chrome windscreen surround has been de-chromed and made white
to colour-code it with the car. It's a subtle but effective alteration.
