What the fuck went on here:

I don't get it.

Yes, the Saab is more powerful,
but it's two tons, and front-wheel-drive.

I'm actually starting to think Saab might be quite quick.

I need to be smacked.

But take a look at this:

Bang! And the dirt is gone.

By way of comparison, an E30 325i

ive always thought saab found the biggest turbos they could and bolt them to a half decent engine then wire them up wrong and strangulate the air coming in,lots of potential for tuning, the 900 turbo was famous for its turbo lag. those crazy swedish
i think im turning japanese?

In the old days. Now they use massive turbos and wind them right down, so they don't boost much.

9000 2.3t made 200bhp (with turbo)
E30 M3 2.3 made 215bhp (no turbo)

It's good that BMW don't fit chargers though, since the engines are better than Saab's without them, so that those who do fit their BMW with a turbo can really ruin the Saabs. Same with Audi, they put turbos in everything, but still aren't as quick on the track as their BMW equivalents. Long live NA.

ill need to plead guilty here..

i served my time on Saab's when i was younger and due to working on them i picked my self up a cheap 9000 aero.... when i bought it it was running a bit rough .. after a couple of hours of owning it and the use of the workshop i had it running as sweet as a nut. so i had it as a daily driver .. made sense at the time!!

a few of my mates had the sapphire cossies at the same time and one of my mates had an e36 m3 the Saab i had was a 1997 9000 aero 2.3 turbo the cossies couldn't look at the Saab and believe it or not the m3 was struggling to keep up with the Saab

being truthful i wouldn't own another Saab but i did have fun in it while i had it plus it made perfect sense me running it while i was working in a Saab specialist garage cheap parts if not free parts most of the time... and the boss didn't mind me tinkering with it on the ramp during slow times..
